Philosophy of Education

Philosophy of Education Learning is part of human nature. It is going to happen regardless of where a child is. The question is what and how that child is going to learn. When I was younger I had severe ear problems that affected my hearing which in turn affected my reading and spelling abilities. I was very uncomfortable in school because of this. I struggled a lot and never did well in those subjects. For my fifth-grade year, my dad and mom decided to homeschool me. They had me do a phonics program as part of my schooling. I did this for half of the school year. That half of the year my mom helped me see the importance of learning and that it could be fun. Looking back on that experiences I can see what my mom did for me. She gave me a safe learning environment, made sure I felt loved and gave me a firm stepping stone to knowledge in reading. I want to be for my students what my mom was for me. Children deserve those three things and I want to ensure that all my students will experience them in my classroom. Technology integration to me means the teacher uses technology in the classroom doc cam, smartboards, and laptops. The teacher also has the students using technology, and not just for research. I have a smartboard in my current classroom. We take short quizzes using the board and the students take turns touching the board to answer the questions. My students use the laptops to take AR quizzes for reading. I am contemplating recording my lessons and posting them on Youtube so that my students can watch them if they need help with a certain standard. I am hoping to learn more about my smartboard because I will be a great tool for me.
