Objective: I can divide shapes into fractions and justify using the correct vocabulary
Essential Questions: 1. What is a fraction? How can you show parts of a whole?
2. What is a fraction? How can you show parts of a set?
3. What is a fraction? How do you describe fractions using words?
Procedures Direct instruction: Use the Fractions PowerPoint.
-Discuss what a fraction is and how a fraction can be a part of a whole or a part of a set.
-Discuss how for it to be a fraction there must be equal parts.
-Review how the denominator is the bottom, or some equal parts and the numerator is the top, or number shaded.
Guided Practice: Is in the PowerPoint. Have students complete the problems on their whiteboards.
-Write it, cap it, flip it.
-Discuss answers and steps.
